BAFTA Cymru success for Rondo Media as Stori’r Iaith wins Best Factual Series
Rondo Media is celebrating after Stori’r Iaith was named Best Factual Series at the 2026 BAFTA Cymru Awards, capping a memorable evening that saw Rondo productions and talent recognised across six nominations.
The award is a wonderful recognition of the Stori’r Iaith team and everyone who contributed their time, experiences and stories to the series.
Exploring the story of the Welsh language and its place in contemporary Wales, Stori’r Iaith received three BAFTA Cymru nominations in total. Alongside the Factual Series nomination, Siôn Pierce Lewis was nominated for Director: Factual, while Leusa Gwenllian was recognised in the Editing category.
It was also a strong year for Rondo drama.
Ciron Gruffydd received a nomination for Writer for Bariau, with Griff Rowland nominated for Director: Fiction for his work on the series. The nominations recognise the creative talent behind a drama that continues to make an impact with audiences through its distinctive storytelling.
There was further recognition for one of Rondo’s longest-running productions, Rownd a Rownd, with Buddug Povey receiving her first BAFTA Cymru nomination in the Actress category for her performance as Kay Walsh, a character she has portrayed for 27 years.
Across factual, drama, performance, directing, writing and editing, the six nominations represent the breadth of talent working across Rondo and the exceptional work of the teams in front of and behind the camera.
Winning the Factual Series award for Stori’r Iaith makes that recognition even more special.
Congratulations to Caryl Ebenezer, Luned Phillips, Gruff Rees and the entire Stori’r Iaith production team, as well as the other nominees. We are immensely proud to see their work recognised by BAFTA Cymru and proud to continue creating ambitious, distinctive programmes from Wales.
